Two of my favorite professors are in this book (The Oxford Handbook of Children’s Literature (edited by Julia Mickenberg and Lynne Vallone)! WOW! I’m always so proud of my profs. when I see their work/essays published… but this is extra special because I took a class last semester with Cummins (she’s also my graduate adviser) and I’m always taking classes with Serrato! They are outstanding scholars! And they inspire me *___*June Cummins: “Where in America Are You, God? Judy Blume, Margaret Simon and American National Identity (Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret [1970]). “Phillip Serrato: “‘What are Young People to Think’?: The Subject of Immigration and the Immigrant Subject in Francisco Jimenez’s The Circuit (1997).”
